How Bay Area Senior Care Placement Helps Families Find the Right Senior Living — Free

Are you a Bay Area family trying to figure out the right senior living option for an aging parent? You're not alone — and you don't have to navigate it by yourself.

At Bay Area Senior Care Placement, we provide free, nurse-led senior placement services to families across the East Bay, Tri-Valley, Peninsula, and South Bay. Our founder Melody has been a Licensed Nurse since 2001. She also brings experience as a former RCFE Administrator and home care business owner — which means she understands the senior care industry from every angle, as a nurse, a regulator, and a business owner. That depth of experience means families get guidance they can truly trust.

Who We Are

Bay Area Senior Care Placement is an independent senior placement consulting agency based in Fremont, California. We are not affiliated with any senior living community — which means our guidance is completely unbiased. We work for you and your family, not for any facility.

Our service is always 100% free to families. We are compensated by the senior living communities we refer to, only after a successful placement.

We are not just a referral service. We are a team that genuinely cares about your loved one's safety, comfort, and quality of life. Every family we work with receives our full attention, honest guidance, and compassionate support from the very first call.

What Is Senior Placement?

Senior placement is the process of helping families identify, evaluate, and select the right senior living community for their loved one. A senior placement consultant acts as your personal guide — someone who knows the local communities, understands care levels, and can match your loved one's specific needs to the right environment.

Without a placement consultant, families typically spend weeks calling facilities, touring communities that aren't the right fit, and trying to decode confusing contracts and pricing structures. With us, that process becomes clear, organized, and far less stressful.

Types of Senior Living We Help Families Navigate

We help families find the right fit across all levels of senior care:

Assisted Living — For seniors who need help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, and medication management, but do not require around-the-clock nursing care. Assisted living communities offer private apartments, meals, activities, and personal care support.

Memory Care — Specialized communities designed for seniors living with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia. These communities offer secured environments, structured routines, and staff trained in dementia care.

Board and Care Homes — Smaller, residential homes licensed to care for up to six seniors. These are ideal for seniors who prefer a quieter, more home-like setting with a higher caregiver-to-resident ratio.

Independent Living — For active seniors who want a maintenance-free lifestyle with social activities, dining, and transportation — without hands-on personal care.

Our Process — Step by Step

Here is exactly how we work with families:

Step 1 — Free 15 to 20 Minute Consultation. We start with a brief phone consultation to get to know you, understand your situation, and answer any immediate questions you have. This is a no-pressure, no-commitment conversation. We just want to understand what you and your family are facing.

Step 2 — Online Needs Assessment. After your consultation, we send you a simple online assessment to complete at your own pace. This helps us gather everything we need to know about your senior loved one — their medical history, care needs, daily routines, personality, preferences, and budget. The more we know, the better we can match them to the right community. We follow up with our second consultation to ask further questions and clarify care needs if needed.

Step 3 — Curated Community Research. Based on your assessment, we identify the appropriate level of care and develop a personalized list of communities that match your loved one's specific requirements. We draw on our firsthand knowledge of Bay Area senior living communities — including communities we have personally visited and relationships we have built with community directors — to give you accurate, up-to-date recommendations.

Step 4 — Scheduling Tours. We help you schedule tours at the communities we recommend and prepare you with the right questions to ask so you feel confident and informed during each visit.

Step 5 — Senior living pricing and services can be overwhelming. We help you understand what is included in the monthly rate, what services may cost extra, and what questions to ask so you feel fully informed before making your decision.

Step 6 — Move-In Support. We stay with you through the move-in process and remain available for follow-up questions and support even after your loved one has settled in.

Why Our Background Makes a Difference

Most senior placement consultants come from a sales or business background. Melody comes from clinical care — and she has lived every side of the senior care industry. As a licensed nurse since 2001, a former RCFE Administrator, and a former home care business owner, she understands not just what communities look like on the surface, but how they actually operate behind the scenes.

When you describe your loved one's medical history, fall risk, cognitive changes, or behavioral challenges — Melody understands exactly what that means for their care needs. She knows which communities are genuinely equipped to handle complex situations and which ones are not. That clinical and operational insight is something families simply cannot get from a standard placement referral service.

More than anything, we truly care. Every family we work with is treated like our own. We take the time to listen, we are honest even when the truth is hard, and we stay with you every step of the way.

Who We Serve

We proudly assist families in Fremont, Newark, Union City, Hayward, Milpitas, Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Redwood City, Belmont, San Carlos, Santa Clara, Los Gatos, San Ramon, Danville, Dublin, Pleasanton, Alamo, Castro Valley, San Jose, and surrounding cities throughout the Bay Area.

Mom and Dad Check-In Services

In addition to placement services, we also offer limited non-medical senior check-in visits through our sister service, Mom and Dad Check-In in the Tri-city area only. These visits are ideal for families who live far away or have demanding schedules and want regular, reliable updates on their loved one's wellbeing — whether they are living at home, in a hospital, or in a care facility.

During each visit we observe general wellness, mood, mobility, and environment — and provide written updates to the family. We also assist with video calls and FaceTime communication.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is senior placement really free for families? Yes — our placement services are always 100% free to families. We are compensated by the senior living communities we work with, only after a successful placement.

Do I need a referral to work with you? No referral is needed. Simply call, text, or use our online scheduler to book a free consultation.

How long does the placement process take? It depends on your situation. For families in urgent need — such as a hospital discharge — we can move quickly, often within 24 to 72 hours. For families planning ahead, the process typically takes one to three weeks.

What if my loved one has Medi-Cal? We can help families with Medi-Cal navigate the Assisted Living Waiver program, which provides financial assistance for eligible seniors to live in licensed assisted living communities. Availability is limited but we can guide you through the process.

Do you only work with assisted living facilities? No — we work across all levels of senior care including board and care homes, memory care communities, and independent living. We find the right fit based on your loved one's needs, not based on what is easiest for us.
